Our staff have over 50 years of combined experience in the field and look forward to assist you with your next research project utilizing cutting edge instrumentation and analytical resources. ��ý uses Agilent’s iLab system as a shared resource management system.

Step 1: Contact Us
A) Submit a Project Request (Fastest)

If you need results fast, jump-start the conversation by sending a project request via ��ý’s interface. Sending a request in iLab helps us gather vital project information and allows us to get started more quickly. Refer to Step 2 if you do not have an iLab account.

If you are unsure if molecular omics analysis is the correct approach for your project or if you need to gather more information, please contact us directly. We are enthusiastic to provide you with detailed information about the services we offer.
Step 2: Get Set Up in iLab
If you already have an iLab account, please jump to Step 3.

This guide may be especially useful for PIs and Lab Managers for tasks such as adding users to their labs and granting users access to funding.

Additionally, iLab Training courses are offered on the 2^nd and 3^rd Friday of every month in 710 Baker Building between hours 10-11am. If these dates and times do not work then, complete the form /cores/iLab_training_registration.php to request another date/time.
Step 3: Request Access to the CIT Landing Page
After you have set up an iLab account, you will also need to request access to the Center for Innovative Technology’s iLab landing page:
Step 4: Request CIT Services in iLab
Service Request

To start a new project, please in for mass-spectrometry analysis or high-content microscopy in iLab. This will allow us to collect vital project information and start work on your project more quickly.

Our in iLab includes a Project Summary form and a Sample Submission form. Please only complete the yellow sections of the Project Summary form. If possible at this stage, please also complete Sample Submission form and upload it. Note that we cannot begin to process samples unless you have uploaded your completed form and uploaded it at the time you submitted your service request in iLab or as a separate attachment to your new project in iLab (instructions included).

Step 5: Review and Approve the Service Quote
Once you have , the CIT will review the information provided, help you finalize the Project Summary form, and provide you with a detailed service quote for your project. The Project Summary will briefly outline your experiment, clarify your project goals, as well as list the CIT’s deliverables and requirements.
Step 6: Review Sample Handling & Storage Guidelines
In order to generate the highest quality data and observe the most complete metabolite profile in your samples, metabolomics samples need to be appropriately handled and stored. We have assembled a short guide to assist you with this: Metabolomics Sample Storage and Handling
Step 7: Document, Schedule, and Submit Samples
If you haven’t already done so in Step 3, now is the time to complete our Sample Submission form and upload it to your project in iLab (instructions included). Note that we cannot begin to process samples unless you have uploaded your completed Sample Submission form.

Step 2: Get Set Up in iLab
If you do not yet have an iLab account, you view the step-by-step guide for external users. ��ý requires external resource users to complete an agreement, but to move things along more swiftly we advise you create an iLab account while the agreement is processed by the university. Once everything has been approved, your iLab account will automatically become functional.

Agilent/iLab will be able to assist you should any issues with the application arise during the registration process: Contact Agilent/iLab. For questions regarding registration, VU’s iLab system, or the VU Shared Resource Cores, please email coresvu@vanderbilt.edu.

Step 5: Review and Approve the Service Quote
Once you have , the CIT will review the information provided, draft a project summary with you, and provide you with a service quote for your project. The project summary will briefly outline your experimental groups and clarify your project goals, as well as list the CIT’s deliverables and requirements.

In addition to the summary and quote, the departmental core manager will provide an External Core Agreement and Addendum for your review and signature. This agreement must be fully executed by both parties before work can commence.
