Transfer Student Orientation
Transfer Student Orientation is the required orientation program for new transfer students. It is designed to offer a robust introduction to life at ¹ú²ú´«Ã½, including informational sessions and small-group discussions that will help you navigate your academic program, campus resources, extracurricular activities and student life on ¹ú²ú´«Ã½â€™s campus.
You will also connect with other incoming transfer students and your Transfer Student Leader, or TSL, (a junior or senior who previously transferred to ¹ú²ú´«Ã½), who will serve as a guide throughout your first semester at ¹ú²ú´«Ã½.
International Transfer Students
All incoming transfer students must attend Transfer Student Orientation. As an international transfer student, you are welcome to attend International Student Orientation.
°Õ³ó±ð External Education Unit will reviewÌýpreviousÌýcourse work for newly admitted students once official final transcripts from other institutions are received. Courses that are already listed in the , available through Your Enrollment Services (), will be posted to your ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ record.Ìý
The External Education Unit will facilitate the evaluation process for courses that have not previously been evaluated by ¹ú²ú´«Ã½. Additional information for transfer students is available on theÌý.Ìý
¹ó´Ç±ô±ô´Ç·É  on Instagram and join the Transfer Hub, found within the ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ Admitted Student Community, to connect with other incoming transfer students and Transfer Student Leaders.
Getting Connected
Incoming transfer students at ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ have many opportunities to connect with fellow transfers, starting with Transfer Student Orientation and extending throughout their ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ experience.
Transfer Connect, a student organization, offers support, guidance and community to transfer students throughout their transition to academic and student life at ¹ú²ú´«Ã½. Transfer Connect puts together transfer group meetings during Transfer Student Orientation, hosts ongoing programming open to all transfer students and oversees the Transfer Student Leaders (TSL).
Over the summer, incoming transfer students will be assigned a TSL who will serve as their guide at orientation and their peer mentor throughout the fall semester.
Transfer Student Transition Programming
- Connecting to VU (CVU) is ¹ú²ú´«Ã½â€™s six-week optional extended orientation program for transfer students, specifically tailored to align with the needs and interests of this unique student population. The purpose of the program is to provide new transfer students with an optional avenue to continue building community with one another after the required Transfer Student Orientation program ends.Ìý
- Coffee with a Commodore is an ongoing program created to help new transfer students meet fellow commodores outside the transfer community. Through this initiative, new transfers are invited to meet for coffee with an upper-division student who began their career at ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ as a first-year.
- Transfer Community Socials are gatherings hosted in the residential areas where transfer students live. Sweet treats are provided for transfer students to enjoy as they meet and build community with other transfer students in their residence hall.
Move-In
While most information on the Welcome Website applies to all students, move-in for students with international addresses differs from domestic student move-in.
