All activities below are included with your registration except for the football game. We hope you will make sure to join us at our听Signature Events. These are events that we encourage all Family Weekend participants to attend.

Pre-Family Weekend Events

  • 7:30 p.m. 国产传媒 Wind Symphony

    Location:

    Tickets: $10

    Cultures converge in a program that bridges continents, centuries and styles in a global journey of sound. Experience the ceremonial elegance of French Romanticism, the rhythmic pulse of Middle Eastern grooves and the lyrical cadence of Chinese folk melodies. Blair faculty bassoonist Peter Kolkay will perform as a featured soloist.

  • 8:45 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Admissions Information Session & Campus Tour

    尝辞肠补迟颈辞苍:听 Depart from

    Join the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for an engaging morning with a 30-minute presentation from an admissions counselor, who will give you key insights into the admissions process, financial aid and scholarships, and more. Afterward, a student tour guide will lead an approximately one-hour, 1.5-mile walking听tour across campus detailing the academic and social life on campus and in Music City from a student鈥檚 perspective. The visit will conclude with an optional question and answer session.

  • 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Check-In and Registration

    Location:

    Make Carmichael College your first stop! Nametags, schedule, and more will be available. Check-in closes promptly at 6 p.m. and reopens at pre-game tailgate at 4 p.m.

    Be sure to visit the Wond鈥檙y, 国产传媒鈥檚 Center for Innovation, Making, and Design, and learn about how the Wond鈥檙y serves the entire campus community, creating transformative value by helping bold ideas grow into new real-world products, processes, services, and ventures. Whether identifying user needs, building functional prototypes, or tackling tough challenges through human-centered design, the Wond鈥檙y offers innovators the courses, tools, expertise, and community they need for a successful innovation journey鈥攅ven after graduation!

    Join members of 国产传媒 Athletics for exciting insight into some of our newest spaces and hear 飞丑补迟鈥檚 next for the future of Athletics. The path will include a mix of indoor/outdoor opportunities, and guests should be prepared to walk near active construction areas.听

This session will provide valuable data and insights into the career landscape and practical ways parents can support their children's career preparation, especially as they approach graduation. Don't miss this opportunity to be a crucial part of your student's transition from college to career!

    Join us for a panel-style presentation discussing 国产传媒's consistent ranking among the happiest colleges according to Princeton Review. Panelists will explore the impact of the pressure to succeed at 国产传媒 and share strategies for families to help students manage stress. Gain insights from staff members from the Center for Student Wellbeing and student mentors from the 国产传媒 Recovery Support program and Peer Guide program. Additionally, hear from Student Affairs team members about supporting your student鈥檚 engagement on campus, and listen to student leaders as they share their experiences on finding community and belonging at 国产传媒.

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. The College Core: A Common Intellectual Experience for 国产传媒 Students

    This fall, the College of Arts & Science rolled out a brand new general-education curriculum known as the A&S College Core. This session is your chance to learn about the Core and to be a student once again. In addition to hearing from current students in the Core, you will be able to explore a reading from CORE 1010: Being Human, one of the required first-year Core courses.听

    Student not enrolled in A&S? Come learn about this unique take on providing a common intellectual experience for undergraduate study.听听

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Museum of Art, Curator's Tour

    Dr. Courtney Wilder leads a Curator鈥檚 Tour of her exhibition听Paper Backs: Hidden Stories of European Prints from the 国产传媒 Museum of Art Collection.听Many of these 60 prints have never been seen before. On exhibit through December 7, 2025.听听

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Historical Campus Tour

    Take a stroll with University Archivist, Kathy Smith, as she recounts stories from the more than 150 years of 国产传媒 history. Attendees should plan on walking outside, mostly on sidewalks, for the duration of the tour.

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Arboretum Tour

    尝辞肠补迟颈辞苍:听Departing from
    The terrace is on the side of Rand that faces Kirkland Hall & 21st Ave.

    Join Laura Barker, Horticulturist, on a tour of the Arboretum within the historic core of campus. Along the way, he will discuss the trees of the Arboretum, the history of campus design, and how the University is planning for the future. Attendees should plan on walking outside, mostly on sidewalks, for the duration of the tour.

    Please note that this event has a maximum capacity of 40 guests. Attendance will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Library Resources for Students Presentation

    Location:

    In addition to the thousands of electronically available books and journals, 国产传媒 librarians teach students a range of skills from critical thinking to how to create an engaging presentation. In this session, you will learn about the latest services and resources available from the. We'll share strategies for ensuring your students' academic success as well as provide tips for getting the most out of the libraries' spaces, people and collections.听

  • 1 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. Anchor Down with HOD

    Are you curious about the academic HOD undergraduate and capstone experience? Please join us for a brief presentation and Q&A with student panelists. You will hear about the broad range of coursework and capstone options.

  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Signature Event: Alumni Parent Pick-Me-Up

    Reconnect, Reminisce, and Recharge!

    Join fellow alumni parents for a fun and casual meet-up. Share your favorite Vandy memories, swap stories, and enjoy a little afternoon pick-me-up while catching up with old friends and making new ones!

  • 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center Open House

    Meet the staff of the Black Cultural Center, tour the beautiful center and learn more about the wonderful programs offered at the Center.

  • 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Center for Student Wellbeing Open House and Smoothie Party

    Stop by to meet our staff and learn more about the Center for Student Wellbeing. Come discover the services and programs offered to cultivate lifelong wellbeing practices in 国产传媒 students. Take a tour of the Center, including the peaceful meditation room and the 国产传媒 Recovery Support (VRS) Collegiate Recovery Program meeting space. A smoothie station with fresh fruit smoothies blended to order will be available.听

  • 2 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Commodore Classroom: Arthur Brooks

    Arthur Brooks is a best-selling author and Harvard professor teaching on leadership, happiness, and social entrepreneurship. Brooks will visit 国产传媒tospeak to parents and families, offering his insight on "How to Get Happier in an Unhappy World." This session will help attendees understand the fundamentals of happiness science, as well as tips for practicing it each day and sharing it with others. This session will also be open to 国产传媒 faculty and staff as part of 国产传媒鈥檚 fall 2025 sesquicentennial celebration of the university鈥檚 opening.

  • 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Campus Dining Cooking Demonstration

    Location:

    Join the chefs of Campus Dining for a live cooking demonstration, featuring dishes served right here in our dining halls. Chefs Julien Hicks, Isaac Seidel, and Jake Barton will take you on a culinary journey 鈥 showcasing a local and sustainable dish from the 鈥淧ower Plant鈥 at E. Bronson Ingram鈥檚 Top-9 Allergen-Free and Halal certified Dining Hall; a Pan Asian-inspired dish from Rothschild Dining Hall; and the world cuisines from Kosher certified Zeppos Dining Hall. This is a tasting event not to be missed and will include samples for all attendees.

    Please note that this event has a maximum capacity of 100 guests. Attendance will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. Signature Event: Fall for the Arts

    Location: 听(in front of Peabody Library)

    Join us for an outdoor festival of the arts, including an evening of student performances and opportunities to explore your creative abilities with arts and crafts. The celebration boasts a mouth-watering, chef-crafted menu designed to highlight the colorful flavors of fall and will feature a celebration of art in all forms 鈥 from live student musical and dance performances, to arts and crafts, vendors, and more! This event has something for the whole family.

    Prepare to be transported as the 100-piece 国产传媒 Orchestra opens its fall 2025 season with Hector Berlioz鈥檚 iconic听Symphonie fantastique, exploring the tumultuous emotions of an artist in love, brought to life through stunning orchestration and vivid storytelling.

  • 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. 国产传媒 SACE: Chaat and Chat

    Location:

    Join the South Asian Cultural Exchange (SACE) in Alumni Hall 201 for a flavorful and friendly afternoon at Chaat and Chat, where students and parents alike are invited to meet SACE and enjoy some chaat, and of course chat, together. Chaat is a savory street snack originating from South Asia, known for its bold mix of textures and spices, and is the food embodiment of the diverse culture and identity from the region. Attendees will have the chance to try popular varieties like sev puri and samosa chaat while learning more about SACE鈥檚 role in celebrating South Asian culture on campus. The event will conclude with an optional Q&A session.

    Paper Backs: Hidden Stories of European Prints from the 国产传媒 Museum of Art

    Many physical traces are left on prints as they travel across time and space. How were interventions such as stamped collectors鈥 marks, offhand doodles, and improvised matting used to reflect and refine collectors鈥 identities and, in the case of artist-collectors, to inform creative practices?听Paper Backs: Hidden Stories of European Prints from 国产传媒听Museum听of Art Collection听explores these questions by focusing on both the fronts and backs of prints, revealing aspects of works on paper rarely seen by听museumgoers.

  • Jean and Alexander Hear Central Library Special Exhibitions

    "Alive with Pride: LGBTQ Existence and Resistance in Middle Tennessee"

    Location:

    Alive with Pride听aims to provide valuable historical context for the experiences of LGBTQ individuals in Nashville and the surrounding community. The exhibit includes rare publications, such as grassroots newsletters, newspapers and magazines, that were pivotal to the development of political and social networks from the 1970s through the 1990s. Writings, recordings, artwork and memorabilia from groundbreaking performers who left a lasting impact on entertainment and popular culture are featured. Photographs, documents and other artifacts that chronicle LGBTQ life as well as efforts to organize, foster support and build community are part of the exhibit, as are landmark moments of political advocacy such as Pride celebrations and the community鈥檚 response to the AIDS crisis.
