Fort Flowers Professor of Mechanical Engineering, one of its \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.popularmechanics.com\/technology\/engineering\/news\/10-innovators-who-changed-the-world-in-2013#slide-5\">Ten Innovators Who Changed The World<\/a>\u201d for 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Goldfarb, who develops robotic adaptive equipment for people with  disabilities, and his former graduate student Ryan Farris were  recognized for the Indego, an <a href=\"http:\/\/news.vanderbilt.edu\/2012\/10\/exoskeleton\/\">exoskeleton<\/a> they developed at 国产传媒 to help paraplegics stand and walk. Farris  now works for motion control technology company Parker Hannifin, which  has licensed Goldfarb\u2019s technology and hopes to bring a mass-produced  exoskeleton to rehab facilities and then to consumers in the next few  years.<\/p>\n<p>Goldfarb has also developed a revolutionary <a href=\"http:\/\/news.vanderbilt.edu\/2011\/08\/bionic-leg\/\">\u201cbionic\u201d leg<\/a> prosthesis, which mimics the movement of a natural leg much better than  a conventional prosthesis.
