Mocco, MD, Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery<br \/>\nDate: Thursday, July 25th<br \/>\nTime:\u00a0 11:50 Social, Noon Seminar Start<br \/>\nPlace:\u00a0 Stevenson Center, 5326<\/p>\n<p>Abstract:<\/p>\n<div>We will review the recent results of engineer\/clinician collaborations in  improving understanding of cerebrovascular disease pathophysiology, as well as  in the development of novel\u00a0 technologies used to improve cerebrovascular disease treatment. We will highlight (1) the use of computational fluid dynamic analysis  in identifying a crucial, and yet simple, new metric to predict the rupture  potential of an intra-cranial aneurysm, (2) collaboration in the development of  a novel stent to treat intra-cranial aneurysms, and (3) the creation of an  adjective technology to aid in thrombectomy to treat acute ischemic stroke.
