Michelle Bukowski
VISE Program Manager
Michelle Bukowski is the Program Manager for the ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ Institute in Surgery and Engineering (VISE) and the Engineering in Surgery and Intervention (ESI) program. She oversees institute operations, strategic communications, academic program administration, outreach, and event planning in support of VISE’s mission to advance interdisciplinary research and education. Michelle has been with ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ for 17 years, including the past 10 years with VISE, where she has played a key role supporting innovative research, graduate education, and collaborative initiatives.
In 2026, the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center recognized Michelle with the Mary Jane Werthan Award, presented annually to someone who has contributed significantly to the advancement of women at ¹ú²ú´«Ã½. The award honors three qualities characteristic of the first recipient for whom it is named: vision, persistence and extraordinary skill in interpersonal and institutional relations.
Also in 2026, Michelle was recognized by the School of Engineering with the Judith A. Pachtman Engineering Staff Award for Innovation and Creativity. This award is presented by the Dean of Engineering each spring to a member of the VUSE staff for contribution beyond the norm to the School of Engineering.
