The Division of Real Estate, Facilities and Development at ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ plays a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining the university’s physical environment to support its academic mission and strategic growth. The division integrates real estate strategy, facilities operations and campus development to optimize ¹ú²ú´«Ã½â€™s 340-acre campus and over 8 million square feet of building space. Through initiatives like the FutureVU land-use plan and public-private partnerships, the division manages commercial and multifamily properties, oversees capital projects, and stewards strategic acquisitions to enhance campus life and foster innovation. This comprehensive approach ensures that ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ remains a dynamic and forward-thinking institution, responsive to the evolving needs of its community and the broader Nashville area.

Our Departments

¹ú²ú´«Ã½ Real Estate (VURE) supports campus growth and departmental needs through strategic land acquisitions and management of over one million square feet of commercial and multifamily properties. It oversees leasing operations for ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ and VUMC, provides housing for faculty, students, and staff, and plays a key role in implementing the FutureVU land use plan. VURE also manages partnerships and properties like the ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ Legends Club and Holiday Inn ¹ú²ú´«Ã½.

West Palm Beach

¹ú²ú´«Ã½ is engaged in discussions about expanding its business education and computing programs to West Palm Beach—an area of tremendous growth and investment in private equity, venture capital, fintech and investment banking.

New York City

¹ú²ú´«Ã½ has established an enhanced presence in New York City—one of the metropolitan and business capitals of the world and home to the largest ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ community outside Nashville.

San Francisco

¹ú²ú´«Ã½ plans to establish an academic campus in San Francisco beginning in 2027, subject to necessary regulatory approvals, marking a significant expansion of the university’s national presence and reinforcing its commitment to innovative education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global engagement.

¹ú²ú´«Ã½'s campus is 330 acres and an accredited arboretum with variety of facilities from Athletics to state-of-the-art laboratories. To continue our support of the university's mission, there are many construction projects underway.

Institute for Quantum Innovation in Chattanooga

The Institute for Quantum Innovation will allow ¹ú²ú´«Ã½â€™s leading quantum nanophotonics, research and educational programs to have collaborative access to the EPB Quantum Centerâ„ , the nation’s first facility to provide commercial access to both a trapped-ion quantum computer and a photonics-based local quantum network.
