Just-in-Time Workshop Series

Redesigning Your Assignments for an AI-Enabled Classroom

Participants will enhance and reimagine a course assignment in light of available generative artificial intelligence tools. The workshop will combine limited presentations and exemplars of success with some work time and peer interaction, with the goal of each participant leaving with a road map for a remade assignment for teaching in the era of generative AI. Working collaboratively through discussion and peer review, we will take generative AI into consideration with the ‘4R’ approach: Review your learning outcomes; Run your assignments through a gen AI large language model (LLM) to see what AI does well and what it does not do well; Remake assignments, choosing if, when, or how students can incorporate AI tools; Remind students of the role AI should play.
